Seoul, South Korea - Day 1

Seoul, South Korea - Day 1

After 7hours flight, finally I reached Incheon International Airport..
The airport is big and clean, and of course very tourist friendly, as there are clear directions written in English..

We stay in iHouse guesthouse in Myeongdong. The hostel occupied the whole 4th floor of the building. It's cheap and clean. BUT it has no lift, so if you bring big luggage, you will a big problem! hahaha..

After checked in, we went to Namsan Tower, it's walking distance from our hostel.

Nice scenery (end of Nov, early winter)

We just spent the rest of the day in Myeongdong area. There are lots of shops and cafes..
And lot of food along the street! Heaven!! Hahaha..

Here are some of the pics that I took in Myeongdong area:

Although it's freezing out there, this ice cream still a must try! :)

Is that blood? Haha..

Big Mama Korean Restaurant

Another well known korean restaurant, not only because it's cheap, the food also not bad..
Space wise, it's rather small, so if you go with group of friends, reservation is recommended.

6 appetizers to start..

Dakgalbi is one of their signature dishes. The staff will mix and cook it in front of you, on your table! And they will inform you when it's done..

PAUL French Bakery Restaurant

Paul bakery has opened in Takashimaya for quite some time, but only today we go there to give it a try. Luckily, the queue today is consider short, make us even more excited to go..

The Tartelette Citron is very refreshing, but it is seriously sour..

We also ordered Cafe Surprise (S$12.90), which should comes with any coffee or cappuccino, served with a mini creme brulee, half moelleux chocolat slice and two mini macaroons.

And guess what we get? All as per the menu, but without the mini creme brulee with additional one macaroon! When we asked the waitress, she said the mini creme brulee is out of stock, so they replaced it with one macaroon.

The staff should AT LEAST inform customers if there is anything out of stock instead of anyhow replacing it with another without customers consent. Don't ever assume that we will accept it happily! If we know in advance that there's no more creme brulee, we would have ordered others.

What about the taste? So so only. (Maybe I put too high expectation in the beginning) Haha!

I would say the Gaufre Chocolat (S$7.50) which basically only waffle with chocolate sauce is overpriced. Why? First, for me, the waffle is too dry. But if you like crispy waffle maybe you will like it. Secondly, the chocolate sauce is seriously too little! Maybe it will taste nicer if it has more chocolate sauce on it.

Overall, I will not come back to PAUL for its patisserie. Maybe I will give it another try for their main meals. But given that kind of service, I will definitely think twice.
